Vacations and Staycations

I fell in love with Baguio when I was a teenager. The cool breeze and the smell of pine trees have always had their way with me, me being a hopeless romantic and all.  Back then I would always imagine myself living in that beautiful city, wearing layered clothing and walking the peaceful streets or reading a book while sipping coffee at a quaint coffee shop somewhere in the hills. And at one point in my once young and foolish mercurial mind, I though about entering the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) after High School. The only thing I hated were […]

How do I start? Haha! Our stay at Starwood hotel in Baguio city was quite interesting, I can’t help but laugh about it every time I remember. Let me tick off the good points first. Booking was a breeze. We called to reserve and just dropped by to pay for our room. Easy peasy! The receptionists said we could pay on the day we check in, we just wanted to confirm earlier so we won’t have to think about it anymore. Cost is low, we only paid Php 1,900 for the room that has 2 queen-sized beds (Are those queen-sized? […]

Dinosaurs Island didn’t really make it on top of my list when I was planning our Baguio trip. I was prioritizing places that can only be found in Baguio and thought that if we run out of time, it’s one of those we can set aside for another trip. But the kids expressed interest in seeing the place, especially Pablo who learned that animatronics are involved. So we decided to go when we couldn’t find a ride to Ben Cab from Tam-Awan. Baguio Eco Park rates We were informed beforehand that it would be difficult to get a ride back […]

The place I was most excited to take the kids to was the Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad. I’ve always wanted them to experience strawberry picking and to walk the fields and see what it’s like to be there. I read Joy Mendoza’s post, City Kids on Strawberry Farm , in 2013 and I’ve been praying for this to happen for my kids too since then. I read somewhere that November to January is harvest time for the strawberries, so I knew right away that we had to go. Although later on, I was told by a local that it’s […]

One of the places I was keen on taking my kids to in Baguio is Tam-Awan village. It was a bit of a distance from the city but cabs in Baguio don’t really charge high and there are jeepneys that you can take to get there and back. In fact, we took the jeepney back because while it was easy to get a ride going there from the Strawberry farm, we found it hard to get a cab going back to the city proper. Learning about the Igorots I learned about Tam-Awan while searching for places to visit in Baguio […]
