Today, I heard about a very interesting session at Asia’s Leaders Talk happening on September 8, 2015 at Misono Events Place in Jupiter street, Makati. The session is called “Unleash Your Leadership Potential” by non-traditional speaker, coach, and trainer, Mike Grogan.
The details I received was that Mike Grogan is making a difference in hundreds of organizations all around the world, from billion dollar brands in America to humanitarian organizations in Palestine. He is breaking through what had been ineffective traditional training programs that he feels are just time and money wasters. He stayed in Tanzania for a few years before moving to the Philippines where he is fast becoming known in the area of non-traditional Management and Leadership Development.

Non-Traditional….Hmmmm…..I got curious so I looked him up and I found out that Mike Grogan promotes the business methodology, Lean Thinking.
Lean Thinking + Kaizen
I don’t understand Lean Thinking entirely yet (that’s why there are sessions such as this to go to), all I know is that in Lean Thinking, learning is primarily the mentee’s responsibility. The trainer demonstrates, while the trainees proactively find learning opportunities themselves.
Lean thinking also promotes the Kaizen mindset, wherein every employee are committed to improving things together, step-by-step.
Together. Step-by-step. There’s a nice ring to that. The workplace now has become such a competitive environment, with everyone pressured to deliver fast, immediate results which oftentimes lead to mediocre output, and disgruntled and unhappy employees.
Mike Grogan has worked with CCBRT (Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania) for two years where he had the chance to put Lean Thinking into action. He’s now based in the Philippines, committed to helping governmental, business, NGO and Non-profit organizations. His passion is to empower and propel these sectors into successfully making positive differences in people’ s lives.
