Home Dating with the Hubby – Fully Housewifed

March 24, 2025 maximios Household

I love spending time with my husband. He’s my most favorite companion in the world. Not that I can live without friends (only some of them, LOL!), but my favorite moments are the ones I get to spend with Jay.

Jay and I try our best to set time for our dates, but it seems a little challenging for us in our current season, especially that we don’t have a nanny to look after our kids.

But you know, I’m proud of us because we’ve figured out creative ways to ”date” even when the children are around.

One of these creative ways is home dating.

I love home dates because I love preparing food for my husband, bringing out the wine glasses, and styling the table the best I could before he comes home and see it.

And yes, I love taking photos of the food before I serve them, so bite me! Haha!

A little Valentine’s rant

Now, let me just get this off my chest.

I saw a couple of sarcastic memes about Valentine’s on my news feed, most likely directed to women who’s been posting flowers they received from their husbands (cause I woke up to a horde of posts like it) and it got to me.

If you’re one of those people who don’t make a big deal of Valentine’s Day, that’s fine. I don’t fault you for that.

But I find that scoffing at people who do is utterly arrogant and self-absorbed, simply because it is none of your business what other people do with their loved ones on Valentine’s day.

I love dating my husband on all days INCLUDING VALENTINE’S DAY. A wife does not need some deep, mountain-moving reason to do it.

To all wives out there who love your husbands, by all means, go out on a date with them with or without occasions. Don’t be embarrassed to enjoy your marriages.

Blush when he gives you flowers, dance with him under the moonlight, laugh at his jokes, and dream with him in the company of stars.

It’s perfectly alright.

The Menu

Anyway, last Valentine’s Day, I told my husband I’d like to home date instead of going out (which I’m sure was not really on his mind until I mentioned it, hahaha!)

I decided on Sausages and Cheese because I wanted a fun meal. I like fun.

What’s left of our Sausage and Ham platter

We got Premium Fantastic Schublig and Hungarian sausages, Village Gourmet Pastrami and Sliced Ham from the supermarket, then picked Arla Havarti and Gouda cheeses, California Pepper Jack and Eden cheddar cheese.

And Focaccia bread to complete the meal.

I also made a cheese dip made of Arla Natural Cream Cheese, tomato sauce and black olives (recipe courtesy of my friend, Michelle Remulla) for the crackers.

I asked my husband to get us a bottle of Arbor Mist Blackberry Merlot and some grapes after work. He came home with them and a bottle of Coke Zero which we ended up drinking instead of the wine, hahaha!

I guess we won’t need to buy wine on March when we celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary since we already have one.

Chrisha’s Kitchen’s Low Carb, Sugar-free Super Moist Chocolate Cake served as our dessert.

My only ”fail” that night was that I wasn’t able to prepare the salad. I got some special Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette to go with it, but I totally forgot I had it until later on.

Jay assured me that he didn’t miss the salad, anyway. So all’s good.

Where’d the kids go?

As for the kids, I served them dinner before Jay came home.

It’s also one of those special occasions that we allow them to use their gadgets on a no-gadgets day so Jay and I can have some time alone together.

Of course, once in a while, the kids would come out of their room to dig into the cheese sauce or pick a grape, or tell us their thoughts on something, but we mostly had the hours to ourselves, just talking about anything and everything and enjoying the food.

And listening to soft music streaming on Spotify in the background.

It was a beautiful evening for both of us.

Good food. Good music. Good company.

Good time.
