I’m signing up for First time parents’ Basic First Aid workshop with Manila Workshop because I need to learn first aid.
I’ve always been the wing it kind of person, and I guess I took it with me when I got married, had a baby and started raising kids. It’s been working out okay, so far, thank God!
Me and my 3 kiddos!
Panic mommy moments!
But we’ve had some run-ins on some pretty frightening accidents with the kids like when Pablo had to be rushed to the ER when his head hit the corner of a cubicle in our office and bled, or when Lukas’ lip needed stitches when he accidentally tripped on his legs while spinning around.
Last week, I panicked when my 4-year old Judah accidentally stepped on a rusty thumb tack that may have rolled into our garage from the streets. I called Jay in the middle of his meeting and demanded for him to come home that instant. I was so terrified that our child may have gotten tetanus! (Judah turned out fine, by the way)
Given our situation: No helper, Jay and his out-of-town events, and the challenge of finding a ride to the hospital fast enough in cases of emergencies, I realised I can no longer just wing it. And I really should not have been winging it all these time.
There’s a lot of basic first aid information online, and I guess that works for others, but my reservation on that is that, when it comes to handling emergency situations, it helps to know that you actually received proper training from a professional.
Basic First Aid workshop includes demonstration on basic first aid to be taught by a Red Cross representative.
I so regret not having paid attention to the first aid lectures back in school.
So I signed up for Basic First Aid workshop, because, at the end of the day, my family is important to me. I need to know exactly what to do in cases of emergency and be able to teach them to my kids, as well.
Yeah, accidents do happen, but you’ll never know when you’ll be facing some life and death situation. Best be ready, right?
